Day 1

Today being the first day of the rest of my life, and the first day of the 10 in 2 challenge, I thought I would update anyone interested in how the day went.

Water- doing well on this one. 8 oz really isn't as much as I remember it being. Also, I count hot herbal tea as water- no sugar or additives, just an herb pack and hot water. It's a nice warming zero calorie beverage for my cold house.

Tonight I am making a vegetable soup recipe I found in Martha Stewart Living magazine. This is not your normal veggie soup, it's got leeks, butternut squash, and lemon juice in it. And WOW, my tasting sips so far have been heavenly. This is a lot of servings of veggies. I am also trying popovers for the first time. These are like the high rises of the muffin world. Tall, ungainly, and light, they mostly consist of flour, eggs, and milk. Mine aren't popping though. Mostly they just look like pale, content little muffins. Darn.

I don't think I am going to get any not eating after 8 pm points today. I fell asleep around 4:00 pm and didn't wake up until 6:00. So dinner is late. It's 7:21 here, and I am on the cusp of serving it.

But then, having taken a 2 hour blissful nap, I am not sure when I am going to bed anyway. . .

I found it really hard to drink all that water and eat the veg/fruit. I'll try to be better today!

Good for you! I personally am not going to try the "not eating after 8" thing. And the "seven hours of consecutive sleep" is something I only dream of happening months - maybe years from now.

The not eating after 8 is difficult sometimes if I don't get home from the gym until 7:30.

One thing has always bothered me about the not eating at night thing. Are you telling me if I only ate one meal a day of 1000 calories and ate it at night I would just keep getting fatter and fatter? :)

I personally have found that eating at night does make a difference. But, I try to get most of my calories during the day. Dinner time is primarily focused on what exercise activity I did in the late afternoon or evening.

Dad, I think you make a good point. I have researched a lot of articles on the topic of eating late in the evening. Researchers agree a calorie is a calorie, no matter the time of day. But, they have found that after dinner, and later in the evening you are more likely to eat bad for you snacks while watching tv, etc. So for those of you with excellent snacking willpower, or who get home late, this wouldn't affect you.

I am not one of those. I eat junk food after dinner/ 8 pm and I mindlessly graze while cleaning up the kitchen. This is actually a good rule for me, because it makes me think about what I am eating.
